Catcher Pop Time to 2B

ThrowingFull field12 minAges 13-15, 16+3-6 playersIntensity: hardPitch Smart OKAdult supervision

Standardized pop time measurement, ball receipt to glove-touch at 2B.

Your job today

Catch the pitch, no extra steps, fire it to second base. We time from when it hits your mitt to when it hits the middle infielder’s glove.

What good looks like: Catch-to-throw in one smooth motion. Stop a runner stealing — that’s the test.

Why it matters: Pop time is how scouts measure catchers. Every tenth of a second you save is a runner you can throw out.

How it works

Catcher receives a thrown pitch and executes throw to second base. Time from ball hitting catcher's glove to ball touching middle infielder's glove at 2B is logged. Three attempts, full recovery between.
