Ready–Aim–Throw (6U)
Teach the throw in 3 freeze positions, then throw into open space and collect.
Your job today
Three magic words: Ready, Aim, Throw. We freeze at each one so you feel it, then everybody throws the same way at once.
What good looks like: Hit all three freeze spots — grip checked, glove pointed, strong legs — then let it fly.
Why it matters: Every good throw starts the same way. Learn the three steps now and throwing feels easy forever.
How it works
First-throwing-program drill from the Baseball BC/Rally Cap model. Players learn a throw in three frozen checkpoints — 'Ready' (ball facing out, glove to target), 'Aim' (point glove at target), 'Throw' (release with strong legs). Everyone throws the same direction into an empty outfield, then collects and repeats. Parent helpers correct form at each freeze.

- Strong legs (athletic stance)
- Glove to the target, then throw
Common mistakes

- Throwing across the body
- Feet together (no base)
Scoring
Track checkpoints hit (rubric).
Adjust it
Make it easier
- easier: bean bag only, 5 ft toss to a parent
Make it harder
- intro: freeze at each checkpoint, no throw
- intermediate: throw to a partner 10-15 ft away
- advanced: throw to a hoop target
Variations
- Coach Says: Play 'Coach Says' calling Ready/Aim/Throw positions
